What the MMAIATEX CoPC, encapsulation and fuse guides cover

The three new resources address different evidence holders. A personnel certificate belongs to a named individual. An encapsulation marking belongs to identified Ex Equipment or an Ex Component. Fuse performance belongs to a defined fuse-link and circuit arrangement. None can replace the others.

CoPC verification starts with the named person and unit scope

The Industry Insights guide uses the official IECEx modular structure to show why a broad statement such as "Ex trained" is incomplete. The IECEx Personnel Competence Scheme overview lists 12 current Units of Competence for distinct work functions, including awareness, classification, installation, maintenance, repair, testing, inspection, design, audit inspection and basic hydrogen-safety knowledge.

The guide gives employers a live-record checklist: confirm holder identity, certificate status, listed units and the issuing ExCB, then compare the result with the actual task. Experience, employer authorization, site induction, permits, supervision and national licensing or law remain separate. The article does not claim that any MMAIATEX employee holds a CoPC.

Encapsulation suffixes must be read inside the full marking

The Technical Knowledge guide explains that Ex ma, Ex mb and Ex mc are Levels of Protection within encapsulation m. IEC 60079-18:2025 is the current fifth edition and covers construction, testing and marking of relevant Ex Equipment, parts and Ex Components for explosive gas or dust atmospheres within its stated scope.

The guide directs readers beyond a suffix to the full gas or dust marking, EPL, group, temperature information, ambient range, certificate status and scope, schedules, instructions, ratings and installation conditions. It does not provide universal resin, thickness, curing, fault, repair or inspection rules, and it does not treat a photograph as evidence of encapsulation protection.

Fuse selection requires electrical and hazardous-area evidence

The FAQ begins with the distinction between the fuse-link, holder and complete module. It then covers the applicable fuse system and class, AC or DC voltage, current, time-current behavior, breaking capacity, prospective fault level, coordination, replacements and the complete Ex assembly.

IEC 60269-1:2024 provides general low-voltage fuse requirements within its published scope. Meeting a fuse requirement does not certify the enclosure, terminals, entries or assembled hazardous-area product. The exact marking, current certificate or declaration, schedules, drawings, wiring information, permitted parts and installation checks remain controlling.

A practical way to use the three resources

  1. Define the work or equipment decision before collecting documents.
  2. Match the evidence to its holder: named person, exact equipment identity or exact fuse and circuit arrangement.
  3. Check the live status, stated scope, limitations and current supporting records.
  4. Connect the result to the area classification, destination requirements, site procedures and responsible reviewers.
  5. Record unresolved conditions before assigning work, approving equipment or authorizing installation.

Buyers should verify the exact legal manufacturer, model and suffix, complete marking, current certificate status and scope, schedules, declarations where applicable, instructions, destination-market requirements and site conditions before selection or use.
