What the IEC 60079-1:2026 pre-release status means
The official IEC pre-release page labels IEC 60079-1:2026 PRV as a pre-release version and says it is a Final Draft International Standard available during voting from 24 July to 4 September 2026. IEC also states that the document contains specific construction and test requirements for Ex Equipment and Ex Components using flameproof enclosure protection for explosive gas atmospheres.
That status creates a clear evidence boundary. The draft is close enough to publication to justify a controlled engineering review, but its title must not be shortened into a claim that Edition 8 is already the final International Standard. A quotation, data sheet or tender response dated before final publication should identify the document as PRV or FDIS when that is the document actually reviewed.
The IEC page calls the edition a technical revision and directs readers to its Foreword for the complete list of changes. A public product page cannot substitute for the licensed standard, the Foreword or a competent clause-by-clause assessment. MMAIATEX therefore does not reproduce a guessed change list or imply that every existing Ex d design is affected in the same way.

The published IEC 60079-1:2014 page and the PRV page must be read as separate lifecycle records. A familiar document number alone does not answer which edition a product was evaluated against.
A new edition does not automatically rewrite every certificate
The official IECEx manufacturer, purchaser and user FAQ explains that publication of a new standard edition does not by itself require a new or supplementary issue of every existing IECEx Certificate of Conformity. It also explains that manufacturers may request an up-issue or supplementary issue to list a later edition, and that previous certificate issues can remain current until their status changes.
This does not mean that an earlier-edition certificate is automatically suitable for every new project. The same IECEx guidance recommends that manufacturers, customers and users consider how changes in a new edition affect equipment certified to an earlier edition. The project specification, national rules, client requirements, certificate status and technical differences still need a documented review.

Ex d buyer evidence checklist before ordering
- Record whether the project references IEC 60079-1:2014, IEC 60079-1:2026 PRV, the final 2026 publication after it appears, or a national adoption.
- Ask for the exact certificate number, issue, status, covered model, options, protection marking and cited standard editions.
- Compare the ordered configuration with the certificate schedule, drawings controlled by the certificate route and current instructions.
- Ask the responsible manufacturer or certification body whether a standards-gap assessment, certificate up-issue or design change is planned.
- Define who accepts earlier-edition evidence and who controls any contract update after final publication.
- Preserve the decision, source URLs, review date and document revisions in the procurement file.

Check the official IEC page again after 4 September 2026. Record the final publication identifier and date only when the lifecycle page has changed. If a procurement decision cannot wait, state the assumptions and obtain written acceptance from the responsible engineering and compliance authorities.
Current MMAIATEX certification status
The public MMAIATEX About page states that ATEX, IECEx and CCC certification work is in progress. Buyers should request current exact-model evidence and verify the certificate holder, issue, online status, model identity, protection marking, cited standards, conditions and instructions through the applicable official system.
