Technical Knowledge

Dew point and relative humidity describe different aspects of moisture in air. This guide helps buyers assemble a location-specific environmental record without treating a weather reading as an equipment rating or condensation approval.

Vapour pressure and relative vapour density answer different questions. Preserve the temperature, units and reference basis in chemical-data handovers before asking an engineer to assess hazardous-area equipment.

Kst and Pmax describe different aspects of a dust deflagration result. Preserve each quantity’s identity and units, and connect the report to the material being assessed before using it in an equipment enquiry.

A salt mist claim needs a defined method, specimen, exposure record and assessment basis. Read the report as evidence for the tested construction, not as a service-life prediction or an explosion-protection certificate.

Maximum experimental safe gap describes a material test result. A flamepath gap belongs to a particular product’s controlled construction. Keep those two records separate when reviewing an Ex equipment quotation or a documentation question.

An IK code concerns protection against external mechanical impacts. It does not establish explosion-protection approval. Review the stated rating, the configuration behind it and the separate evidence required for an Ex equipment enquiry.

Minimum ignition energy describes a dust-air mixture’s susceptibility to spark ignition under test conditions. Learn how to keep the material test result, its supporting report and the Ex equipment acceptance decision separate.

SIL claims and Ex certification address different evidence questions. Learn how to distinguish a safety function, a device capability claim and the documented explosion-protection scope before comparing equipment offers.

LEL and UEL describe the limits of a flammable mixture, not equipment approval or permission to enter a space. Learn how to preserve the substance, units and evidence behind a purchasing enquiry.

A flame-arrester standard reference identifies a technical scope, not a universal approval. Separate the proposed device, documented use and application evidence before treating a quotation as an engineering decision.
